The Zythological Society of North America invites all homebrewers to The Meister von Bier homebrew competition set for Saturday, May 8th at the Brenham Maifest. Homebrew entries will be accepted until 12:00 noon the day of competition. You will need to bring (3) three 12 oz. bottles of homebrew to enter into the competition. All bottles must be brown and unmarked with generic caps. Entry fee is $10 for the first beer and $5 for each additional entry. Entry forms are available on our website, www.zythological.com/news. The competition is set to begin at 1:00 and winners will be announced that day.
Maifest: The Oldest Festival in Texas!
With roots dating back to the German Volkfest in 1874, Brenham Maifest is the oldest festival in the great State of Texas. Having such a rich history, the Brenham Maifest Association is building our archives of past Maifest celebrations. We would love to keep in perpetuity your family’s Maifest memories, from ticket stubs to programs, pictures, Royal attire, crowns, or other materials that will help us tell the story of the oldest German festival in Texas! You can email us or make arrangements to bring your memorabilia to Board Director Amber Westerfeld in downtown Brenham by calling 979-836-7623.
